What is dYdX Chain address?

Every trader who intends to trade on a blockchain that uses v4 open source software (”dYdX Chain”) needs a dYdX Chain address that they control. dYdX Chain is its own blockchain, and therefore has different addresses than other blockchains such as Ethereum.

Why do traders see an Ethereum address and a dYdX Chain address?

When onboarding via the UI provided by the default settings of the v4 open source software, traders have the ability to create a dYdX Chain address, which is derived from a trader’s Ethereum address’ private key. The UI reveals to traders’ the Ethereum address they used to derive their dYdX Chain address for informational purposes only.

Who has access to a dYdX Chain address?

Anyone who has the private key of the Ethereum address that derived a dYdX Chain address has full access to assets on a dYdX Chain.

Where is dYdX Chain address located on the v4 open software?

  1. Traders have the option to click on the drop down at top right hand corner

  2. The address is below the “dYdX Chain Address”

    1. Traders have the option to “Copy” their addresses

    2. Traders can “Open” their address details in Mintscan browser

Does every dYdX Chain address have a seed phrase?

As part of the default settings of the v4 open source software, traders who have dYdX chain addresses also have associated seed phrases.
