Supported Wallets on dYdX Chain

As part of the default settings of the v4 open source software (”dYdX Chain”), these are currently the wallets that are supported on dYdX Chain UI:

  • MetaMask: Currently the most-popular wallet on dYdX Chain, MetaMask is a browser extension for browsers such as Chrome, Brave, and Firefox.

  • WalletConnect: dYdX Chain supports any wallet that uses WalletConnect. WalletConnect allows traders to connect many different mobile wallets. To connect a WalletConnect wallet, select "WalletConnect" when prompted to select your wallet type. This will display a QR code, which gives traders the option to scan using their WalletConnect enabled wallet.

  • Coinbase Wallet: The mobile application Coinbase Wallet also works with dYdX Chain. It can work by accessing the site through the Coinbase Wallet app itself, or by using WalletLink which allows traders to use the desktop version of the site while signing transactions using their phone. This is done by scanning a QR code on the site using the Coinbase Wallet app. The Coinbase Wallet browser extension is also compatible.

  • Other Wallets: Other wallets may "just work" with dYdX Chain, however they are not officially supported by v4 software yet. Traders can use the “Other” option to connect with other wallets. They would show up as "Web3 Wallet" once successfully connected.

Keplr Wallet Support

dYdX Chain also offers Keplr wallet support. Keplr offers a simple way to facilitate transfers, staking of assets, voting on governance, and more.

Given that dYdX Chain was developed on the Cosmos ecosystem, traders have the option to participate in governance and staking by exporting their secret phrase to a Keplr Wallet. As part of the default settings of the v4 open source software, each trader has a unique dYdX chain address that is created upon signature using their Ethereum address during the wallet connect step.

Note: If a trader is utilizing the v4 open source software, Keplr wallet support is currently unavailable as an option for trading.

What the the differences between MetaMask wallet and Keplr wallet?

Keplr Wallet is known for its strong integration with the Cosmos ecosystem and enables users to interact seamlessly with Cosmos-based projects. On the other hand, MetaMask is more widely used and supports Ethereum-compatible networks, making it a go-to choice for users primarily operating within the Ethereum ecosystem.

What can you do with a Keplr Wallet?

  • Participate in dYdX governance. Check out the governance and staking guide here.

  • Participate in dYdX staking. Check out the governance and staking guide here.

  • Explore the Cosmos ecosystem with Keplr

Does the above also apply to other Cosmos-native wallets?

Yes, other Cosmos-native wallets such as Leap may also support dYdX Chain.
